Texting In A Virtual World

I’ve been experimenting with Parallels lately - this is the program that lets me run Windows (in my case Win2K) on my Intel MacBook Pro. It works very well..considerably better than Virtual PC on the PPC. It’s a great way to simulate client environments and when necessary open those MS Project files. I shelled out for the fee after the trial expired today. The tipping point was being able to send SMS from Skype. I have a lot of friends using texting and since I switched to the Blackberry I’ve missed the ability to link my bluetooth phone to the Mac (the Blackberry 8700 only has bluetooth one way…out). Anyways the Skype SMS service only works so far on the Windows version. I also can’t seem to watch any CNN clips on the Intel Mac either…no problem streaming media in Windows though…it runs smoothly surprisingly.

So, in virtualization, in literally another operating system than my computer runs, I’m using a program that emulates functionality of my cell phone (itself another operating system) to send text messages all around the world. The amazing thing is just how well it all works…
