Long day… was great to catch up with our customers in London and Norway… plus add one more new one.
We had a lot of interesting discussions as always - and hopefully did a lot of listening (and of course I’m sure I talked too much). For years now our customers have been comfortable with and encouraged our use of open source software. We’ve never had to have a lot of open source vs. proprietary arguments - all that mattered was that the system worked. One thing I’m noticing more though is that now that open source is more accepted as mainstream, the conversations of its deficiencies are a lot easier to have. So it’s no problem to use it - but everyone is aware that its not a solution to every problem. We’re seeing it more and more as we deal with data reporting problems and speed of development issues… will try and write my thoughts about all this into something more coherent. For now off to visit one of our first customers here in TO. Overall a great trip… but lot’s to catch up on. Sorry to all those who are waiting… I’m working on it.
