Oh So Quiet

Waiting in the Oslo lounge for my flight back to London. Since I was staying in London a few extra days to finish some things up at our client site I decided to fly to Oslo for the weekend to have Christmas dinner with our ‘abroad’ team member, Hina. Had a great evening filling her in on the goings on back home and talking about plans for the new year.

Stayed at the limited service (but nicely run/clean) Oslo Terminus Hotel. When I started traveling to Norway four years ago internet access was sketchy (except for costly dial-up). Now there’s wifi everywhere, including the hotel and three different (competing?) networks at the Oslo airport. The price has gone down and the connections are better.

I had to catch a later flight because of a scheduling snafu so I lounged around the airport for quite awhile. Was able to watch the sunset around 3pm and surfed for Nordic inspired music on iTunes, I settled for “It’s Oh So Quiet” by Bjork. As an aside I think (as everyone else has written about) the iTunes experience is brilliant. I’ve bought half a dozen songs so far, mostly on the sites own recommendations. It’s actually the first music I’ve purchased in years, I’m happy to finally have an easy way to give money to the artists and the companies behind them. It’s an elegantly designed product and very easy to use. Finally.

London is in full Christmas swing. No camera with me on this trip so will have to snap some pics next time around.
