Echo Bias
I tried, I really did try. I’m concerned that all the blogs and news sites I read come from a large list of blogs and news sites my friends and colleagues read. As the election heated up and I traveled more I thought I should try and expand the type of site I was reading (to paraphrase, ‘to read more “conservative” blogs’).
So I subscribed to a few (not even going to link to them lest I send them more traffic). I’m so disappointed, perhaps my own biases now are so strong that I couldn’t help but find them all shrill, but they were definitely one sided (without the artful writing I seem to find on some of the seemingly more open minded sites).
So today I unsubscribed, despite my best efforts I can’t read their crap. I’ll try again some other way to expand my input (back to reading more magazines) but for now I’ll sit happily in the echo chamber that seems to make more sense to me.
P.S…. still on the road. Ending my trip here in Bergen once again where I hope I can catch up on all the crazy promises I made over these last few weeks on the road. Home soon (hopefully).
